A beautiful form worthy of art

This canister, with a dignified presence like an objet d'art, was created by Gato Mikio, a shop renowned both in Japan and overseas for its traditional Yamanaka lacquerware, and product designer Shigeichiro Takeuchi, whose designs unleash true beauty and functionality, unswayed by trends and eras.

The weight of the wood, crafted through a drying process before processing, creates a striking presence. Each detail is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans. It also functions as a barrier against moisture and light, protecting coffee beans from the elements.

This product is available exclusively at Blue Bottle Studio Kyoto and our official online store.

<Gato Mikio>
Founded in 1908 (Meiji 41) as Gato Woodworking in Yamanaka Onsen, the town of pottery. Carrying on the spirit of the woodworkers, we value the beautiful grain created by natural materials and the perfection of each carefully carved piece, never hiding it. We display the wood grain boldly, never hiding it. At Gato Mikio, we strive to create lacquerware that will be treasured for years to come, focusing on precision and silhouette while leveraging the advanced techniques of traditional Yamanaka lacquerware and pursuing high artistry rooted in Japanese aesthetics.
