A Special Coffee Cup

This is a collaboration between Gato Mikio Shoten, renowned both domestically and internationally for its traditional Yamanaka lacquerware; product designer Shigeichiro Takeuchi, who pursues designs that bring out true beauty and functionality without being influenced by trends; and Blue Bottle Coffee.

The soft curves evoke the warmth of wood, and the gentle form feels comfortable and pleasant to the touch. The shape allows you to wrap your hands around the cup to savor the coffee, and the open mouth allows you to enjoy the aroma.

With its sophisticated craftsmanship and beautiful design, this cup is both practical and artistic, allowing you to enjoy the coffee experience we strive for in the comfort of your own home.

This product is available exclusively at Blue Bottle Studio Kyoto and our official online store.

<Gato Mikio Shoten>
Founded in 1908 (Meiji 41) as Gato Woodworking in Yamanaka Onsen, the town of pottery turning. Inheriting the will of these woodworkers, we value the beautiful grain created by natural materials and the perfection of each piece, carefully carved by the woodworker. We never hide the grain, but rather show it off boldly. At Gato Mikio Shoten, we pursue practicality leveraging the advanced techniques of traditional Yamanaka lacquerware and high artistry based on a Japanese aesthetic. We are committed to creating lacquerware that will be cherished for years to come, with a focus on precision and silhouette.

<Shigeichiro Takeuchi>
Established SHIGEICHIRO STUDIO in 2008. Based in Tokyo, he designs and directs furniture, products, spaces, and graphic design.

<How to Care for Lacquerware>
- Avoid prolonged immersion in hot water. Washing the lacquerware as soon as possible after use, wiping it dry with a soft cloth, and then wiping it with a dry cloth will help extend its lifespan.

- Avoid exposing it to sunlight or high humidity. This may cause deformation, discoloration, or mold.

- If the smell of new lacquerware bothers you, leaving it in a well-ventilated area for a few days, rinsing it in warm water 2-3 times, or wiping it lightly with diluted vinegar can be effective.

- If the lacquerware is stained with oil or has fingerprints, carefully wipe it off with a soft cloth or paper.

- Avoid using scrubbing pads, polishing powder, or putting it in a dishwasher.
